Brigadier General Dror Avda serves as the Police and National Security Ministry Attaché and Liaison Officer to the United States and Canada, a position he has held since August 2022. In this role, he leads efforts to strengthen law enforcement cooperation and strategic partnerships between Israel, the United States, and Canada.
A senior commander in the Israel National Police, Brigadier General Avda has held numerous leadership roles, including Commander of the Central District Major Crime Units, Commander of the Shai District, and Deputy Commander of Israel’s elite National Counter-Terror Unit (YAMAM). His career has placed him at the forefront of counter-terrorism operations, organized crime investigations, and high-risk crisis response. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Middle East Studies and a Master’s degree in Legal Studies.
In this presentation, Brigadier General Avda will address the tragic events of October 7, when Israel faced a massive, coordinated attack involving thousands of rockets and terrorist infiltrations. He will examine the Israeli Police response to an unprecedented high-casualty event, including managing multiple crime scenes under fire, confronting explosive threats, identifying victims, and providing immediate civilian assistance.
